The 15 winners of the 2017-2018 “Social Innovation to Tackle Fuel Poverty” programme, promoted by Schneider Electric Foundation and Ashoka, in partnership with Enel, have now fully joined the mentoring phase, designed to help and support them in view of the Two-day European Summit to be held on May 24th and 25th in Rome.
Ashoka and the Schneider Electric Foundation, in partnership with Enel, announce the 15 winners of the 2017-2018 “Social Innovation to Tackle Fuel Poverty” programme in Europe during COP23 in Bonn, Germany.
Ashoka and the Schneider Electric Foundation have decided to extend the deadline until midnight GMT on Sunday, 8th October 2017 to give you the opportunity to refine your application and increase the chances of being selected to be part of this new cohort of social innovators tackling fuel poverty in Europe.
Ashoka and the Schneider Electric Foundation are pleased to announce that the best five candidates for the “Social Innovation to Tackle Fuel Poverty” program will also receive 2000 euro in seed funding to support the implementation of their strategy to scale up their impact. Moreover, the Schneider Electric Foundation has committed to provide further financial and in-kind supportup to 10000 euro for the five initiatives that demonstrate the highest potential for positive impact by the end of the program. This is on top of the 300 hours of dedicated mentoring and training by top consultants, the access to inspiring meetings and events with the European network of fellow social innovators, and the increased visibility during COP23. Italia Che Cambia è media partner della seconda edizione del bando indetto da Ashoka e Fondazione Schneider Electric per combattere la povertà energetica. Abbiamo intervistato Giorgio Rosso della cooperativa La Città Verde, che ha vinto la passata edizione con un progetto di produzione di compost dai rifiuti ed ha appena rappresentato la regione Emilia-Romagna all’expo 2017 in Kazakistan.

Η Ματίνα Μάγκου, Project Manager του προγράμματος για την Ελλάδα, παρουσίασε το Tackle Fuel Poverty και προσκάλεσε ελληνικές κοινωνικές επιχειρήσεις σχετικές με την καταπολέμηση της ενεργειακής φτώχειας να υποβάλουν συμμετοχή. Μαζί της ο Γιώργος Κουτίτας, ιδρυτής του Gridmates και Ambassador του προγράμματος, μίλησε για την πρωτοβουλία του μέσω της οποίας καθένας μπορεί να δωρίσει ενέργεια σε άτομα που πλήγονται από το πρόβλημα της ενεργειακής φτώχειας, μέσω ενός δικτύου συνεργασίας με τους μεγαλύτερους ενεργειακoύς παρόχους της χώρας.
On 16th June 2017 we attended, together with the Schneider Electric Foundation, the last meeting of the EU Taskforce on the topic of energy poverty in Europe, hosted by the European Policy Centre in Brussels, Belgium. After presentations by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice President of the European Commission for the Energy Union, and Claire Dhéret, Senior Policy Analyst at the European Policy Centre, a panel discussion saw Theresa Griffin, MEP, Gilles Vermot Desroches, Senior Vice President at Schneider Electric, Sandrine Meyer, Researcher at the Université Libre de Bruxelles, and Eero Ailio, Deputy Head of Unit Retail markets, coal and oil, DG Energy at the European Commission, engage in a conversation about the diverse components of the energy poverty phenomenon.
L’11 aprile a Bologna, Ashoka Italia e la Fondazione Schneider Electric hanno chiamato a raccolta esperti di tecnologie energetiche e comunicazione per presentare il bando “Innovazione Sociale per Combattere la Povertà Energetica”.
